hi there my friends!! as many of you know... life around our house has been busy crazy lately, but with all great fun things!! and one of the great fun things for us was "homecoming"!! in texas... everything is done BIG and homecoming, for sure, is one of those things!! just a little background (for my friends abroad)... homecoming is an annual tradition of the United States. people, towns, high schools and colleges come together, usually in late september or early october, to welcome back former residents and alumni. it is built around a central event, such as a banquet and, most often, a game of football. when celebrated by schools, the activities vary widely. however, they usually consist of a football game played on a school's home football field, activities for students and alumni, a parade featuring the school's marching band and sports teams, and the coronation of a homecoming queen and king. a dance commonly follows the game.
and the above is just what our school did!! now... with that being said... a boy no longer just "asks a girl out" to a "special event"... it is a full presentation which usually consists of flowers and a small gift (the gift is usually a symbol of something she is a part of... such as drill team, cheerleader, etc). the homecoming event is a week long affair with daily happenings... such as nerd day or twin day (since most of the kids go to homecoming in a group of friends, for twin day i made my son's group t-shirts and the whole group dressed alike) with friday and saturday being the big days... friday is the parade, pep rally and football game... saturday is the dinner and formal dance. the homecoming event was certainly one to remember... and thanks to my sweet, wonderful and talented friend, Brooke Martin, we have beautiful pictures to remember this special moment in our life!!! she captured the occasion perfectly!!!!!!!! so now i will stop rambling on and let Brooke's gorgeous pictures tell the rest of the story!!
thanks for stopping by and taking a peek. big hugs!!

Janet,
you captured this beautifully. And the explanation. Wow!!! I have had so many people ask me what Homecoming is and what Mum is. I find it suprisingly that they don't know. But, been in Texas all my life, so I don't know any different. The pictures brought tears to my eyes, in fact they are running down my cheeks. Your blog is great. Love to read it when I get a chance.
Take care, hope to see you soon.
