as the old year slips away and the new year charges forward it seems to make us think... think about who we are, where we have been and where we are going in this ole world. i know that, for me, it seems as though i have spent the last several years 'weeding my garden' per say - trying to figure out and be ok with the fact that 'i am enough'! today i read the most poignant blog post by tracey clark - founder of shutter sisters! i am an avid follower of tracey's and just love her work and blog. her post today was titled... 'breaking my blog silence' and i found her raw honesty to be courageous, bold, daring and heroic! it sure made me stop and think. you can read her blog post here... i hope you have time to hop over, you will be so glad you did!
i find tracey to be such a wonderful role model (matter of fact... i told her that she was my hero) she is refreshing, inspiring, uplifting, invigorating and encouraging. her passion for the arts shows through with every picture she creates. after reading her post and thinking on it a good portion of the day... she has inspired me to be more open and unguarded. so with a deep breath, here goes (small steps, right?)... while 2012 was filled with many wonderful and happy memories for our family... it most definitely had its trials and tribulations. to be honest... more trials and tribulations than happy, carefree days or even just boring run of the mill kinda days. why are these things so hard for us to admit? after all... that which does not kill us makes us stronger... or so the saying says. i have always considered myself to be a 'glass half full' kinda girl... while my husband is more the opposite... but this year sure challenged that for me! my 'one little word' for 2012 was 'relinquish' - give it all up to God. and i must say... i worked very closely with God this year. not that that is a bad thing at all, it is quite a good thing, but there were times that I wondered how i was going to make it through the day. and thanks be to God... i always did... and the next day i felt a tad bit stronger - well, maybe not always the next day but at least a few days later i did! so with all of that being said... my 'one little word' for 2013 is 'obedience'. obedience to God... making sure that i am following the path that He has laid out for me and not mine. i have to say that i am not sad to see 2012 go but rather joyful that it will now be behind us... i sure thought it would be a hard year to let go of, on the account that i have dreaded the doom of the approaching year, 2013, for the last 18 years... the year we become 'empty nesters'. they say that God has a way of preparing you for your every need, i have to say that i am most thankful to be content to see 2013 arrive rather than dreadful... thank you LORD!
